Friends of Yellow Creek

The major involvement of the Friends of Yellow Creek was beginning the assessment of the Bath Creek restoration project that Oxbow River and Stream Restoration Company will accomplish at the Bath Nature Preserve in 2008. They were also active in efforts to have two rain gardens constructed at the entrance to Bath Community Activity Center.

Seeking to engage in greater outreach, Friends of Yellow Creek developed a set of Power Point presentations titled "Clean and Healthy Waters." The committee is prepared to address community organizations interested in activities to preserve and protect Yellow Creek. In April, they presented an Earth Day program involving tree planting by young people in the Bath Nature Preserve and an educational program covering watershed friendly lawn care, rain gardens, and identification of indigenous species for use in landscaping. Using a grant received from Bath Volunteers for Service, educational programs were presented by the Ohio EPA, the Summit County Health District, and the Summit County Soil and Water District. For Community Day a "streamulator" provided by the Summit County Sewer and Water District demonstrated the development characteristics of streams.
